A multi-zone food plant that had to be efficient and hygienically bright in every room.
Big Bird Foods commissioned Crest LED to relight its processing plant on Jamber, Multan Road near Lahore, 1,200 m² spanning cold rooms, processing and packing halls, utility spaces and outdoor yards. The brief was clean, high-output illumination in every zone while holding running cost, heat and maintenance to a minimum. Installation completed on 20 November 2014.
A working food plant with no room for heat, glare, or downtime.

As a food processing operation, Big Bird's plant runs long shifts across cold storage, processing and packing zones, where light quality ties directly to hygiene, safety and throughput. The legacy scheme ran hot, drew heavy power, and meant frequent relamping high above live production lines. Crest LED was engaged to deliver clean, high-output light in every room without those trade-offs.
The plant is brighter and cleaner-lit than it has ever been, our lighting energy and maintenance load dropped by half, and the fittings simply keep running shift after shift. Across performance, consumption and upkeep, Crest LED delivered exactly what we needed.
A full Crest LED portfolio, one fitting matched to every zone.
Crest LED surveyed every room in the plant before specifying, no single luminaire suits a cold room, a tall processing hall and an open outdoor yard at once.
High-bays light the tall processing and packing halls; slim panels and battens take the lower-ceiling cold rooms and corridors; tubes and bulbs cover utility and office spaces; and flood and street lights on 8-metre poles handle the outdoor yards and perimeter, backed by emergency flood lights that keep critical zones lit through any outage. In total, 2,277 fittings across fifteen wattages from 7 W to 180 W.
Each fixture is sealed to its environment, IP20 indoors up to IP66 for wash-down and outdoor use, runs at 6500K cool daylight for maximum clarity, and delivers up to 150 to 160 lm/W, pairing a rated life beyond 100,000 hours with the durability a working food plant demands.

Half the energy, half the carbon, plant-wide.
The plant's lighting load was assessed against the equivalent conventional scheme it replaced, across the same 1,200 m² running 10 to 12 hours a day. On a like-for-like basis, the Crest LED fit-out cuts both energy and carbon by half.
Half the power draw, every operating hour.
Across 2,277 fittings running 10 to 12 hours a day, the LED scheme draws roughly half the power of the conventional lighting it replaced, for the same, brighter result.
Half the carbon footprint, plant-wide.
Running long daily shifts across cold storage, processing and packing, the LED scheme emits roughly half the CO₂ of the conventional alternative it replaced.
Crest LED vs conventional, every metric improved.

Outcomes the plant can see, and the budget can feel.
The fit-out completed in November 2014 and has run since. Measured against the conventional lighting it replaced, the results land on every line of the brief, and the client reports continued satisfaction with performance, consumption and low maintenance.
